Set on the banks of the Mawddach Estuary, this quaint, family-run lodging was built in 1650. It’s 6 miles from Morfa Mawddach train station and 18 miles from Harlech Castle.
The simple, airy rooms feature en suite bathrooms, river views, Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, plus tea and coffeemaking equipment. Suites add separate living areas and private balconies.
Complimentary cooked breakfast is provided, and there’s a cosy restaurant serving both modern and traditional meals, as well as 2 bars.

2 weeks agoAwesome location, most rooms have a beautiful view of the estuary. Rooms are of good quality and well equipped, although no air conditioning and can get uncomfortably warm on the rare occasions of hot weather in Wales. Food is very good. Good cooked breakfast, although lacking in other options such as yoghurt and fruit. Good selection of beers. Do not allow food being eaten outside. Dog friendly.

a week agoWent to the pub on a bank holiday, weather was really hot, asked for a menu and was advised they stopped serving food at 5 o'clock outside and to go check upstairs if they have any tables, what a shame! Would u not know if u had any availability? The scenery is beautiful and with the weather being hot why would you want to sit inside. Served drinks in plastic beakers! 🤦♂️ Would not recommend!

2 weeks agoI’ve been to this pub several times. This pub and restaurant boasts one of the best locations around however when it comes to everything else it is pretty rubbish and we know better places for food and drink. It’s one of those pubs that rest on their laurels of being in a great location. - The beer on draft isn’t local it’s generic. - The food is bad. - the bar snacks are walkers and doritos… it’s like they’re begging me to not come back. - The service is always a bit slow. - The outside bar is just an afterthought, old tables thrown outside with a limited bar managed by one person who isn’t allowed to leave the bar so when a keg runs out you wait around for 30 minutes for someone to read a text to replace it.. - We were served pints in *plastic* cups. I’m sorry but I am adult enough to manage a glass, we’re not at Glasto. - The roast is bad. Such a bad setup. We went to the Cross Foxes which is the opposite experience, rubbish location, good food. All locals know this place as “amazing views, rubbish food”. Go for the views, leave for better food.

4 weeks agoLovely location at the start and end of our bike ride for the day. We decided to come back at the end of our ride for lunch. On returning we came into the bar to find we were only able to choose from three sandwiches if we wanted to sit outside. The adult drinks were served in plastic cups. The bar staff were only following instruction but what an odd set up!!

a month agoRecommended by a friend. Decided to visit whilst having a long weekend away in North Wales. Great atmosphere and incredible views over the estuary. Taken back the location of the pub. Perfect for a summer day. The menu had a great variety of GF on offer. All reasonably priced, as well as the staff are attentive and friendly. Will recommend it to my family and friends.
